Happiness From A Different Source
A four week meditation course in October
In Belper, Chesterfield & Matlock Bath
We all have the same basic wish to be happy all the time, but very few people understand the real causes of happiness and so how to fulfil this wish. We usually believe that external conditions such as food, friends, cars and money are the real causes of happiness, and as a result we devote nearly all our time and energy to acquiring them. Superficially it seems that these things can make us happy, but if we look more deeply we will see that they also bring us a lot of suffering and problems.
Everyone is welcome 🙂
The Course
What we will study
The real source of happiness is inner peace. If our mind is peaceful, we will be happy all the time, regardless of external conditions, but if it is disturbed or troubled in any way, we will never be happy, no matter how good our external conditions may be. External conditions can only make us happy if our mind is peaceful.
So, we can see, if we want true, lasting happiness we need to develop and maintain a special experience of inner peace.
On this course we will look more deeply at inner peace as the source of true happiness and how to develop and maintain it, both through our meditation practice and in daily life.

What to Expect
The classes are organised as short courses, usually around 3 or 4 weeks long and last just over an hour. You can attend the whole course or simply drop in whenever you can as each class is self-contained
You don’t need to bring anything with you and don’t need any previous experience of meditations or the class subjects. We sit on chairs for the class and meditations in a comfortable relaxed atmosphere; so all you need to do is turn up and enjoy.
We start all classes with the Liberating Prayer and a short guided breathing meditation to take ourselves away from the ordinary. You can join in or just listen to the prayer, it’s up to you.
We’ll then have some practical Buddhist teachings followed by a guided meditation based upon them; and finish with some advice on how to put the teachings into practise in daily life
If you have any questions, please get in touch via info@heartjewel.org.uk and we’ll be delighted to help
“The purpose of meditation is to make our mind calm and peaceful. As mentioned earlier, if our mind is peaceful we will be free from worries and mental discomfort, and so we will experience true happiness; but if our mind is not peaceful, we will find it very difficult to be happy, even if we are living in the very best conditions. If we train in meditation, our mind will gradually become more and more peaceful, and we will experience a purer and purer form of happiness.”
