Venerable Geshe-la once said that in the West we learn so many things, but no-one teaches us how to be happy! So he did! And through his teachings becoming available worldwide, anyone can now learn these ‘secrets’.

We tend to make the attainment of happiness more complicated than it actually is, by believing that we need things such as success, praise, status, looks, material possessions and so forth to achieve it. The reality is that none of these things can give us lasting happiness and chasing them can make us prone to anxiety, frustration and disappointment.

Buddha explains simple attitudes that we can all learn to cultivate that increase our happiness and sense of well being.

On this 4 week course we will explore through teachings and guided meditations how we can cultivate the minds of contentment, gratitude, acceptance and joy.

To register you pay for an individual classes using the “Book Now” button (Payments by Paypal and Credit Card are accepted). We will automatically receive details of your payment with your email address. We will use this contact address to forward your link for the teaching. Alternatively if you are coming in-person you can pay in cash (if open).

Alternatively you can purchase a monthly Centre Card for £20/month (you can cancel anytime) which gives you free access for all classes except special events and the Study Programme. The general structure of the class:

  • Practical teaching on meditation and aspects of positive thinking (approx. 30 – 40 mins)
  • Guided meditation including relaxation (approximately 25 mins)
  • Advise on how to put the teachings into practise in daily life. 

The classes are organised as short courses, usually around 4 weeks long. You can attend the whole course or simply drop in whenever you can as each class is self-contained. You can start anytime.

Classes are now live streamed using Zoom with 3-day catch up for those who cannot participate live or who want to view the class again. 

The teaching is given at the Centre in Matlock Bath. Up to 5 people can attend the class in person but this is by appointment only if restrictions are not in place. 

Please pay in advance for each individual class  using Paypal/Card or make life easier and pay for a Centre Card which gives you access to all the classes for £20/month – see Membership Fees

With a Centre card you do not have to register for a class because links for all our classes will be sent automatically.


On the day of the class we will send you an email with a link to the session.

We will be using the software ZOOM to broadcast the meeting. It is best to download the app Zoom to your computer or phone from the internet. It is free and easy to register your account. 

When you click on the link we have sent you it will automatically open the session for you. Please check that your audio microphone is switched on. If you need to contact us during the session please use the CHAT function within ZOOM.

In summary:

– Pay & Sign up for classes well in advance

– Make sure you have ZOOM on your computer/phone

– Arrange a quiet place at home for the livestream meditation class

– Click on the link we send you 15 min before the start

– Get comfy if you can, loose fitting clothes are best for meditation

– Have a pen and paper handy for notes and writing down questions

We are currently not accepting any visitors due to Covid restrictions. We are hoping to be able to accept visitors to the Centre and at branch venues as soon as possible.
